ABOUT A LOT LIKE LIVING

First things first: you are welcome here.

At A Lot Like Living, inclusivity isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a foundation. No matter your race, sexual orientation, gender expression, or neurotype, this is a space where your story matters. I provide queer-affirming, neurodiversity-affirming counseling, and I especially love working with late-, un-, or self-diagnosed AuDHD folx. My goal is to meet you where you are, honoring your lived experiences while recognizing there’s always more learning and unlearning to do.

Your spirituality is welcome in session if you’d like, but you won’t hear me offering religious platitudes or scripture as coping tools. I’m deeply aware of the impact of religious trauma on mental health and work hard to create a supportive environment where healing can happen on your terms.

Why Therapy Can Feel So Necessary

Let’s be real: living in this world can feel like a lot. The pressures of perfectionism fueled by media and capitalism, the weight of racism, homophobia, and generational trauma—it all piles up. Our nervous systems are built to scan for danger, and in a 24-hour news cycle, it often feels like the world is on fire. No wonder anxiety, stress, and overwhelm show up when you’re trying to hold a job, build relationships, or navigate shifting family dynamics.

And here’s the thing: it makes sense that you feel this way.

A Different Way Forward

At A Lot Like Living, I believe in finding moments of safety, joy, and possibility—what I like to call glimmers. Therapy isn’t about ignoring the hard stuff; it’s about learning when fight-or-flight is helping you survive and when it’s safe to soften and seek connection.

Everyone’s path looks different. My glimmers as a white woman with privilege might not look anything like yours—and that’s okay. What matters is that you get to define what safety and healing mean for you. Together, we can explore how your nervous system learned to protect you, and gently ask whether those patterns are still serving you today.

What You Can Expect in Therapy

Sometimes, people come to therapy hoping for magic words or quick life hacks. (Honestly, I wish I had them too!) But therapy isn’t about hacking your way to happiness—it’s about walking through the mess and imperfection of life with someone who can sit beside you in it.

I’ll be here to help you:

  • Calm your anxiety and ease nervous system overwhelm

  • Heal from trauma

  • Build relationships that feel healthier and more authentic

  • Reclaim joy, hope, and safety—on your terms

When things feel impossible, I’ll hold onto hope for you until you can hold it again yourself. Because you are worth hoping for.

A Lot Like Living is all about creating space for healing, authenticity, and connection. Together, we can work toward the life you want to live—not a perfect one, but one that finally feels a lot like living.
